SLX Hydrolic Brakes (160 mm, BR M665) -enough brake power/heat reduction for my need?
Hi,
I am bike novice and owner of a bike with the brakes specification mentioned. I am considering bringing my kids to kindergarten by bike and I'm worried about descending a long step hill from my home. The length of the continuous descent is about 2000 meters and the height difference is about 150 meters. With one kid in a Burley carriage and the other in a rear child seat I need to keep a slow pace and hence need to break continuously while descending. I am worried if the specified brakes will hold. Total weight: about 134 kilos (me 72, kids 20 and 12, Burley 10, bike 10, baggage 10)?
Any ideas?

As long as you have bedded the pads in, and don't drag them, yes, prefer a 180mm front as it gives a nicer feel than the 160mm.
If you havn't ridden with that set up on any bike before, would want to be confident on the flat first before adding additonal weight, seat and a carriage, as these can throw off you balance on the bike.
