lockring tool for Dura-Ace 7400 BB?
Hello, I have an Italian threaded Dura-Ace 7400 BB that I need to overhaul. Do I need a special lockring tool? I have a Park HCW-5 but it is a little too big and doesn't engage the notches securely; I tried to loosen the lockring with it but it slips and I'll just end up stripping the notches out (I stripped one a little before deciding that this wasn't going to work).
Thanks,
.seth

Hammer and screwdriver, eh? I can't tell if you are serious but I am in no hurry to take a hammer to my 25 year old Bianchi Specialissima!
I like the lock ring pliers idea, unfortunately the largest (only) pliers that my hardware store had were too small. I tried again, carefully, with the Park wrench and got it opened. @reptilezs, I like the idea from your blog of modifying an adjustable wrench, if I ever need to deal with a lock ring again I will think about making a tool like that. Once I get this BB reassembled and adjusted though I may never need to touch one again.
Thanks for the replies!
