New Ultegra/105 compatibility wth older versions.

So apparently nobody knows the answer to this in the road forum so ill give it a go here. Straight from the shimano brakes instructions for current 105, its says "do not use br-5700 in combination with previous sti levers....otherwise the braking performance provided will be MUCH TOO STRONG????" what does that mean? i somewhat understand the concept of short pull and long pull but how can a brake caliper stop to strong?? will the old levers provide more oomph then the current brakes can handle? im running 5600 shifters with new 105 calipers and it seems to work fine. im not flying over the handle bars and id definitely say my bike stops well but i wouldnt call the caliper grip "much too strong". so whats the scoop?

Shimano changed the lever ratio but it's not that much different, works fine IMO.
