Just wondering if there was anything I should be doing with my rims/hubs

I have a Surly Cross Check 2011 stock rims/hubs (alex da19) and deore hubs.

Should I be doing something with these to keep them running smoothly? Anything I should ask the bike store to do. Conservatively, I've put around 2000 miles on it in 3 months. I do hard group rides and have recently been doing a metric almost every weekend. I religiously check my spokes (I've had problems on another bike with broke spokes, although it was a $300 hybrid bike that I rode the same way I'm riding this one).

Thanks for thoughts.

Have the hubs checked and greased every 2500 miles.

Spokes will fail because of not enough tension or uneven tension.

Your old hybrid just might have had non-stainless spokes. The spokes may have been weakened by corrosion.

Barring those things, spokes will simply fatigue after lots of use. They are loaded and partially unloaded with every revolution. They will eventually just wear out from metal fatigue, and there's nothing you can do except regard them as a replaceable component like the tires or chain.

Properly tensioned spokes fail from mechanical damage (errant derailleurs or sticks) or corrosion. They'll outlast several sets of rims.

hubs should be adjusted when new and tension checked/stress relieved
