Could I get the 36T HG61 cassette to work with a few year old XT derailleur?

I'm trying to get lower gearing, and this would be perfect if it would work.

"We've run it successfully with a basic Deore (non-shadow design) with a longer (20mm) B-tension screw all the way in. You might have to reverse it for more adjustment." - via harriscyclery.net

I'm running this cassette with plain ol' deore derailleur and the b-screw is flipped over and it seems to work fine for me.
