No more room on handlebars
Hi all,
With a bell, cyclocomputer, headlight, and the usual shifters/brake levers, there's hardly any room on the handlebar left. How do others get around this? Or is it no big deal? It just looks strange since I've never had so much stuff on the bars.
Thanks,
Brian

I saw something cool the other day for this sort of problem. It was a variable width bar with two clamps on that clamps to the bars and has it's full width available for mounting stuff on. Can't for the life of me remember where though...

The LBS had a sale, I bought a headlight and bell. I already had a computer. I thought it might look tacky with more stuff on my handlebar than batman carries on his utility belt.
I have a MTN bike, so maybe I have more room than a road. I mounted the bell as close to the shifter as possible, so it doesn't take much room. Then I mounted the headlight to hang below the handlebar rather than above. I pushed the headlight mount as close to the computer as possible, creating the allusion that they were the same mount.
Working good so far.

If you did need more space, Performance sells an extension that clamps onto the bar to add some more capacity. Useful if you mount a handlebar bag or map holder, say.

Minoura do a clamp on space-bar ( a length of bar that clamps on to the handlebat and sits a few inches in front as described above). A search using google should turn up a supplier.

Nashbar has the Minoura gadget that mounts to your handlebar. It looks like a parakeet perch for your lights, cyclocomputer, and other stuff. $9.99 at https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...ype=&estoreid=
