What shifters to use with Shimano 200CX components?

I just picked up a new project bike, an early 90s diamondback ambition hybrid. It has all shimano 200cx components, which I can't find much info about. The right shifter is busted, so I plan on replacing both of them. I've been looking at replacement shifters, but some say they are 1:1 ratio, and some are 2:1. How can I find out what ratio my derailer is? Also, for a hybrid setup, what type of shifters do people usually prefer?

The shifter ratio's; that's for SRAM vs Shimano kit; current and mid - high end, this is ancient standard drive kit, which you will struggle to find spares for. For replacing the shifters would guess that this is a 7 speed drive train, a set of SHimano EZ-Fire shifters should work fine, or old 7 speed Gripshift, the mech should have it's ID stammed on it, for shifter choice, it's all personal preferance.

First, is the shifter broken or does it just not work properly. I assume it has something similar to a 200GS shifter which can often be brought back to life by cleaning out the old, hardened grease and relubing.

If it is actually broken, you can go with thumb shifters, trigger shifters or grip shifters as it is all a matter of preference. Just find a set that is 2:1 ratio (Shimano standard) and the right number of gears (assume 3 x 6 or 3 x 7 for that era).
