Front wheel coming loose

I'm a bit new to cycling (I did some biking as a kid but just around the block kind of stuff) so I don't know much about bike repair.

The latch on my front axle that lets me take my wheel off my bike keeps coming undone when I ride making the wheel become loose and wobble around.

Its an older used bike but is in good condition otherwise.

Is this an easy fix?

Not to insult your intellegence, but you aren't just tightening a quick release like it were a nut and bolt are you? With the safety tabs (lawyer's lips) on front forks since 1990 ish you'll need to screw the quick release in and then cam it closed to lock. It should be moderately difficult to close.

One thing I should've asked... Do you have disk brakes? I don't have a disk braked bike, but understand that there's an issue with them loosening QRs.

If attending Georgena Terry's explanation doesn't help, then another thing to look for is a threaded axle end sticking out too far. If the axle sticks out too far, the quick release nut will put pressure on the axle instead of squeezing the fork. The fix is to reset the bearing system locknuts so that the axle is centered better & doesn't stick out too far on either side.
