622 wheel frame, 630 fork - OK?
I think I might have cocked up the title a bit, so bear with me.
The old Peugeot frame I have takes standard 28" wheels - which have 622 on the tyres. I have a spare fork from an old mixte that fits, but the tyre on its wheel was a 630. Am I OK to stick this fork on? Hope some of the above made sense to someone. TIA Simon |
You should have no trouble. The handling might not be perfect, but I doubt it was to begin with.

You might need to get a front brake caliper with longer reach. If the head tube and headset sizes match, everything else should be close enough.

I agree you may have to use the brake off the Mixte also. the brake reach will likely be your biggest problem, you may never notice the difference in handling

The difference in wheel sizes shouldn't be an issue. As noted, you might have to get brakes with a different reach.
The big thing is making sure the steerer tube is the correct length. You'll find that out soon enough. |
