Bottom Bracket Wear indications

I am swapping a standard crank for a compact crank for a hilly ride this summer. Having removed the crank, I decided to remove the external bearing bottom bracket (shimano Ultegra Hollowtech II) as well to verify it's integrity.

So, are there any wear indicators? Should it just be replaced if it has 7,500 miles on it?

I have noticed no problems. Just looking for some advice/guidance.

Thanks!

If it feels and sounds smooth it is good to ride. About two weeks before your big ride remove the chain and spin the crank, feeling for roughness and grinding noise. If it's ok go on your ride.
