pedals getting suck

sometimes when i change gears on my bike, it gets harder to pedal, and if i dont switch to another gear, the pedals will get stuck. The pedals remain stuck until i move the rear derailleur a bit. My bike is only a couple days old, so was it assembled badly or something? (it was bought assembled from a bike store)

You need to make more detailed observations.

Try recreating the problem with the bike upside down.

If you bought it at a bike shop, you should take it back to them and see if there's something that needs adjustment or you need to learn how to shift your gears. Good bike shops provide post-purchase tune-ups.
