Why is it So Hard To Find Even "Recently" Parts

I am hunting EBay in search of my prey...SRAM Rival, 1st generation, you would have though tons of frames would have lost them in pursuit of better combinations but no...I find 2 sets, both in the $800 range...

...Which is what 2011 Rival sells for.

I'm still trying to figure out the question; "Why Can't is it So Hard To Find Even 'Recently' Parts", doesn't make a lick of sense as a question or statement.

Yeah...it's a negative followed by a positive with a qualifier.

Short for "recently produced". Understood it right away.

Dunno. Why is 8 speed MTB stuff getting harder to find new? Nashbar had some decent cheap shift/brake levers that are no longer available.

Things are funny that way. Seems like 8-sp XT cassettes were what, about $60 new back in the day? Then I scored a couple around the turn of the century for $30 from PricePoint. Now I see people asking $100 NOS.

well someone has now changed the original title of, "Why Can't is it So Hard To Find Even 'Recently' Parts", which is still confusing. This makes me wonder what the heck people are learning in schools these days; it certainly isn't correct grammar. That is about the worst butchering of the English language I have ever seen in print. Do they not teach students how to make complete sentences any longer?

Easiest and cheapest source of relatively recently produced components is a used bike. Most of my parts come in the form of a bicycle. It might be a bike that some fatal flaw (like a broken frame), or it might be cosmetically challenged, or it might just be a deal.

What year was 1st generation rival released? I'd say it takes about 6-9 years before normal cyclists see enough gains in technology to upgrade. Sometimes in that time frame a certain group will only see 1 major revision. I see alot of Shimano 2001 - 2004 stuff for really cheap.

Most people upgrading in this product range will be upgrading a whole bike, so instead of parting out the bike, they will sell or trade it whole. That doesn't help you much when all you want are individual components.
