Ultegra STI shifter and XT rear derailleur?

Will ultegra STI shifter have the right pull ratio to operate a XT rear derailleur with a 9 speed MTN cassette?

That combination will work perfectly. My wife's bike has it, and one of my double-equipped bikes has it. (we have a lot of hills and mountains here) Just make sure you have the correct length chain. (but you already knew that)
