XTR m952 bb 112.5mm problems?
hi im trying to build my zaskar.le 73mm shell have an xtr 952 c'set got a new one but it's too long 116.mm as can get 7mm alenkey between stay/rings. so looking for either shorter one or thinking of machining down end of cup now by 3.5mmish so fits in deeper or what does anyone else have or idea's?.do have 2 dura'ace ones even for sale/exchange etc or could use one of those cups to try out.as one bb's in pieces etc.
my other thing i could do is use my campag centaur (original not road new one) but think would need to source a bb as frame its in now would be 68mm(midd 80's spez stumpy comp last u brake one&made in japan)

I could be wrong (Or misunderstanding you) and I am still new to all this so forgive if I'm horribly off track, but don't the XTR BB's come with spacers you need to use on either side??

To the OP, shaving the BB cup won't work as that will just take length from one side and put it on the other side, since the BB axle length remains unchanged.
There is such a thing as a 112.5mm length XTR BB so you can try to find that. What you really need is an Octalink version 1 BB that has a shorter BB length than what you current have and that will also fit a 73mm width BB. The Ultegra/Dura Ace Octalink BBs are 109.5mm, but they are unfortunately for 68mm shells. Maybe you can shave 2.5mm off each side of the Zaskar's BB shell!

The spacers are only necessary for 68mm width BB shells. The OP mentioned that the Zaskar LE has a 73mm BB shell.

trying to source a 112.5mm atmo.have a couple of dura ace ones in 109.5mm.some used xtr ones on road c'sets if they had awkward chain lines etc as 105/ultegra/d'ace was 109.5/118mm.
Other than that is to use my campag centaur but then would need a 73 mm for that.as wouldnt want to use with 5mm of inside shell thread open.
