9/10 cassette spacer

I recently purchased some Mavic crossride disk/ub wheels and installed an old Shimano XTR 9speed cassette. It has play, I assume there's a spacer could anyone confirm this?

thanks

Andy

Many Mavic hubs require a 2 mm Mavic spacer when used with a Shimano or SRAM 9-speed cassette. Do not ride a wheel with loose cassette cogs, the frehub may be damaged.

Hi Al1943,

I won't ride it, it would probably ghost shift all over the place anyway. I'll look for the spacer.

Do you know why they space the frehub this way, I thought the 9/10 speed was the widest cassette anyway so why go bigger?

Thanks

Andy

Mavic cassettes are wider than Shimano or SRAM cassettes. I thought the spacer should come with new Mavic Shimano compatible hubs. https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=33401
