Last night when I was removing my cheap origin 8 cranks I ran into some problems. The nut screwed in nice and easy and I tightened it pretty well in there and then I would screw the internal part in there and tighten that as much as I could with the wrench and nothing would budge.
I tried this several times with the same results so I finally decided to lube it up real good and use as much force as I had too. I finally got one crank off, but I am scared I damaged it. I didn't strip the threads ( the nut still laces perfectly in it) but it seems like I actually screwed the internal part so far in that it screwed into the square spindle part and made threads.
Can I still put this crank back on the spindle? Will it still fit snuggly and will I be able to remove it when I need to? It seems like I am going to run into the same problem with the other crank, how can I avoid this?
Hmmm +1 with the previous poster, put them in and see if they get lose. Doesnt look like u screw them up that much because usually the BB doesnt get too far out so you could be ok. As for the bolt and washer hope are ok or u will need new ones.
BTW find cranks with jis squared tapper is pretty cheap now. In ebay u can get a pair maybe for 20 bucks, try them 1st them go to ebay if did not work well u know.
