Sram Force Derauillers over Sram Red. Sram Red bent and rubbing chain rings

My bike is all sram red except the brakes.

I started noticing a grabbing feel on the drivetrain. I thought it was the bottom bracket. It ended up being the front derauiller (sram red) rubbing into the chainrings (Easton EC90 Crankset). On climbs or times when I really mash it causes the chain to drop down to the smaller chain ring. Even on flats I am noticing the ring getting into the derauiller at times. The Easton Crankset is not perfectly round either. I was told it can get a bit out of round at times and it can be aligned by using a vice grip on a towel and bending the splines back to where the ring is true again. The major issue is the derauiller though.

The derauiller I was told was bent and that most people opt to use Sram Force on the front derauiller (even the tour guys). Anyone experience this issues?

Your crank is Carbon Fiber (CNT Composite) sticking it in a vice will more likley break it that fix it. for you derauiller is this set up correctly? or are you cross chaining, as this could lead to chain rub.

For all you issues, they sund like setup / warranty, rather than wrong components

I had a solid bike mechanic look at it. The derauiller is setup correctly but bent. I guess with it being titanium it is light but also easily bendable.

The bending of the crank wouldn't be done in a vice. Very slight bends with a pliers and a towel to prevent scratching. I am not crosschaining when this is happening.

I see Dave Zabriskie's setup is a Sram Red with pro option steel cage....lol that means Sram force

Cage material only makes a difference while shifting. If your chain is rubbing during normal riding than something is wrong, and worrying about what your cage is made out of is pointless as none will fix it.

It makes a difference if it is bent because the material is easily bendable under strain. A bent derauilleur will cause chain rub and improper shifting right? I am not a bike mechanic. I can do most things but tuning up a derauilleur is not a strong suit of mine. I just want to ride the damn thing and make adjustments if needed. I see alot of gus running SRam force/rival or duraces FDERS

Thousands of people use them with no problem. Don't crash and bend your derailleurs.

I haven't crashed it.

and

They do have issues. I am sure 1,000's have used them and had no issues. They do tend to have issues and as a result people who do love SRAM choose to use different FDERS if not Sram force/rival other makes.

I could post 6-7 other links proving the issues out there. No need for the discussion as I have found my answer on other forums and through other research. I like SRAM but for whatever reason I need a stiffer front derauiller cage. There are guys out there that have shimmed and modded their FD but I really prefer plug and play with minimal adjustments.
