Books or websites on bicycle maintenance?

I'm buying a new bicycle soon. However, I would like to keep my old one to take apart, and reassemble, so that I can learn more about how bikes fit together. But I have no knowledge on the subject of bike repair at all. My level of knowledge is that when I get a flat tire, I have to take my bike back to the store. So, my question:

Are there any good books or websites on how to a bike fits together, and how you take it apart for maintenance? Something along the lines of "if you want to remove the chain, following these steps works on most types of bike" would be nice.

Sheldonbrown.com, parktool.com/blog, multiple books, many of which you can peruse in a library or bookstore to see which works for you, or just google bike repair book and check out the reviews. The BEST option, though is a bike co-op if you have one nearby, or a store that offers repair classes. In person generally trumps online and printed help, though I would recommend reading up on the two sites I mentioned as well, because whoever helps you may leave out important info. The same goes for videos - they are best as a secondary resource.

Be aware that many of the tools required to take a bike apart can be somewhat expensive and rarely used. Your time is best spent with routine and common adjustments.
