Let's play name that noise!

I know this has been done about a million times before, but I've got a clicking/ticking noise that I can't seem to diagnose and that's driving me completely insane. My bike is a 2011 BMC SL02. The frame is a warranty replacement for a cracked frame from last year, and the noise (which I thought was from the cracked frame) has followed me when I swapped all of the components (full SRAM rival, with a 1031 chain and a 1050 cassette, generic/shop stock cables and housing) to the new ride.

It's a noticeable, but not particularly loud (people on a group ride don't always hear it unless they're listening for it) clicking when I put a lot of force on the pedals (accelerating from a light, climbing a hill). It sounds like it's coming from the BB, but I don't think it is (BB and crank spindle are tight and well-greased). There are two distinct clicks, one when force is applied, one when it's released (and they have different pitches). I can reproduce the click if I apply both brakes and put weight on the pedal while standing with the bike. And it seems the noise is only present in the small chainring - that or the wind noise is overpowering it when I try to reproduce it in the big ring.

It's not my seatpost or saddle (happens while standing or with the post removed). It's not the stops for the internal cables (they made a lot of noise, but it went away with some lube). It's not the rear skewer, which I've greased and tightened as far as I can while still being able to close it. I also don't think it's coming from the front end, the noise happens no handed and it also happens regardless of pushing/pulling on every combination of parts of the bars I can think of.

Any ideas?

I can't imagine what else it'd be other than maybe a sketchy freehub body.

If you still get the sound with a different wheel I'd try another crankset.
