Snapped frame seatpost clamp eyelet
OK mechanic guru's; am I screwed? The clamp on the frame that clamps the seatpost in place snapped open (from an "O" shape to a "C" shape, basically) when trying to loosen the bolt so I could raise my seat. I'm guessing there's no real way of fixing this short of welding, right?
If I do need a new frame, any suggestions for a po' boy? I was looking at the cheap-o Nashbar aluminum touring frame...
Any help is appreciated. I need my transportation.

the whole thing come from Wally world ?
, go get a new bike , At the LBS., the new components all work pretty darned good
even at a modest $400 price point.
see if the parts off the other one are worth anything on E bay , or a Yard Sale.

Fietsbob raises a good point; how much is the bike worth and what is it's quality. If it's a Walmart special, don't put any money into repairs. A possible fix is to grind off both ears and fit a seatpost clamp of the right diameter like this:

How screwed you are depends on the design of the seat lug area. If the seat tube extends above the seat lug or weld by 1/2" or more you can cut off both lugs, file it down to a round tube and add an aluminum collar.
If the the seat tube ends at the lug, or roughly level with the top tube, as most do, that isn't an option. If you have a friend with an auto shop, or electric welder, it shouldn't be hard to do a weld repair, but if you have to pay for it to be done professionally it wouldn't be worth the cost.

Some older cheapo bikes actually had a clamp that sleeved around this area. If you could find on the correct size of make one up that may give you a "fix" that will at least allow you to use the bike.
If you have someone weld in a proper fix make darn sure they know what they are doing.

Thanks for the thoughts, y'all. I'll take a closer look tomorrow when I have time and decide if it's savable.
It's actually been an okay bike - an older Novara Randonee. Had a few kinks to work out at first (old/crappy brifters, mainly), but it was going good once I got all that business worked out.
$400 is way out of my price range right now. I can pull together $150 for a frame, but not much more than that (hopefully most of my components can just move over with minimal new purchasing needed... ).

MAYBE... REI, being a consumer cooperative, will replace it,
they do so for a lot of their stuff sold.
with something current, + labor to swap over all your parts.
