Road brake shoes on hybrid bike

I put some road brake pads on a hybrid bike brake arm. Am I going to hell?

Will my bike explode or crash me into a wall?

PS - the pads push against the rim but do not touch the tire - is this OK?

Should be ok. It may be slightly more difficult to adjust the pads as V pads generally have concave/convex washer sets allowing pad angle adjustment.

Also, if the width of the pads is much different than the original pads + washers then the arms may come too close together at the top and not allow proper braking.

But if neither of those things are a problem then I cannot imagine why it won't work.

you can't find the correct pads for your brakes?

as DCBO points out proper adjusting of the pad may be difficult, most road pads do not allow you to adjust the toe in of the pad

Un Mentioned , which brakes do you have ?

Road brake pads may not have the right kind of mounting bolts , Ex: V brakes ,
a Dura Ace Pad holder wont fit.

Recently the Boom In Cyclo Cross racing has put shorter pad plain post brake shoe holders
as the hot deal, because you can pull a front wheel easier than
when the long tail of other brake shoes hits the inside of the fork blades,
before clearing the inflated tire.

I tried running Koolstop Continentals on some v-brakes with the concave/convex washers on 'em.

Ran fine for a while but then got a bit of squeal so tried adjusting the toe-in a bit. The posts on those are kinda short and only a couple of threads engaged so I stripped one while adjusting.

So yeah, it's a YYMV kinda thing. I wish there was a Continental with MTB length posts.

I hate those long brake pads.
