broken chainstay....

No receipt from purchase in July 2006 either, Bianchi Volpe bought from lbs. Owner comes in tomorrow, sales guy said maybe he'll have it in the records, manufacturer needs something before they'll replace the frame. I'm very nervous...

I see you've also had chainsuck issues, could the broken stay be related to that?

If you suspect it might be so, be sure to either solve the chainsuck issue down to zero incidence, or mount a chainstay protector underneath or both, ledt you crack a second chainstay.

FBinNY - it appears the frame is still under warranty so I stripped it down and left it with the LBS. The mechanic said it'd take a few weeks but Bianchi will send me a new frame to replace it. Between the new frame & the new drive-train I've specd out, that should eliminate the chainsuck and other 'ghost issues' (my terminology for stuff I cannot pin down). For this new frame (I'm still holding my breath...) I will do exactly as you've suggested. Thanks for that.
