Question about rear dropout eyelets and rear rack installation

Hello,

I am fairly new to biking. My bike has rear dropout eyelets that appear to be too big! They do not look standard, and I am not sure how to install a rear rack on those.

Questions:

1) Are rear eyelets standardized in bikes? If so, what standard do I have?

2) What are my opotions for installing a rear rack? May I could get some kind of a bracket that convers these big eyelets to a standard size eyelets?

Those are not fender/rack eyelets.

P-clips are commonly used if no eyelets.

Does the non-drive-side look similar? You could probably use washers and other bits to adapt what you have.

There was another thread not long ago about this. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...nting-question....

What kind of bike? Those eyelets don't look to be threaded in the picture. Are they?

Those aren't the "standardized" eyelets that I'm used to seeing. Some of the bigger companies, like Trek, have started putting non-standard mounting points on some of their frames. I assume that's to capture the aftermarked accessory market. What does your LBS have to say about them?

If you're missing a mounting point on either the top or the bottom of the seat stay, and you're not carrying coast-to-coast loads, one pair of P-clips works fine. I've not had good luck using 2 sets of P-clips because the rack moves too much side-to-side.

Those look like they're there to offer more surface area to the weld. That looks fairly low end, with probably an Acera derailleur and it has a 7 speed freewheel. You could use rubber coated clamps on the stays. Those clamps can be had at auto parts and hardware stores.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes this is a GT bike and that other thread is about the same thing... I missed it while searching because I was searching for "big" holes... didn't realize they were actually HUGE
