Flat bars to drop bars conversion. Hydro disc brakes to mechs?
Hey i recently bought a bike in the UK without really knowing much about it however it got me interested in cycling so i've been reading about it and researching different things. So i don't know lots about bikes just yet although i think i can get the basics
Basically with my bike i've tried to convert the riser handlebars into drop handlebars. I've bought the bars, brake levers, bar end shifters, cables and housing. The plan originally was that i'd just replace the Shimano BR-M445 hydro disc brakes that came with the bike with some v brakes as apparently hydraulic discs can't be used with drop bars. However, i overlooked the fact that theres nowhere to attatch the v brakes on my bike... So i was wondering if it would be worth replacing the hyrdo brakes with mech disc brakes like the bb7? The brakes that came with the bike have a 160mm rotor so if i bought some mech disc brakes with a 160mm rotor would it just be a straight swap? Also, have i overlooked anything with the v brakes or is it just no practical to put them on?
I know i've probably missed out lots of important information so please just ask if theres anything else you need to know. I'm an 18 year old student at the moment so money is a bit tight so please bear that in mind. Thanks a lot

That would work. If your new road brake levers were designed to actuate conventional road brakes, then buy the road-specific version of the disc brake, which will operate with less cable travel. If your new road brake levers were designed with more cable travel to work with V-brakes, then use a mountain disc brake.

What levers are you using? drop bar levers will normally only work with calipers / canti / road disc brakes, there are very few out there which work with v-brakes with out a travel agent or similar.
Would help if you posted what bike you have and the current vs planned specs, so an accurate answer can be suggested.
