Decal removal on older bike?

I just got this Fuji Touring bike of undetermined age (4-6 years, still trying to find this paint job in records) - is it possible to take the decals off now that they've been weathered and aged? I really don't like the black and gold on the gray.

Hot air gun to the decals should/might loosen the glue.

Are they over the clear coat? I've used goo gone to get stickers off before, although it was a much older bike.
