I am new to the bicycle world, and this forum.
I want to build my own fixie, because some of my friends are willing to help me.
I now some of the basic needs to make one, now this is what I'm planning to buy the following parts from my friend:

-Windsor TimeLine Frame + crank set + stem/fork bar for $120

Now ill just need to get the rest of the parts, such as:
-Wheel set = Only rear because i already have a front. Rear for $70

-Chain
- Riserbars
-Pedals + straps

Do you guys have any advice on what brands to get and where? Thank you

There are a lot of questions here. One thing I'll say having been a newbie not so long ago is that a lot of these decisions become more complicated than they seem, and sometimes more complicated than they should be. Do you have a total budget in mind?

The first thing you'll want to do before buying anything is to do some reading. I'd start here: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/fixed.html
Sheldon's Brown's site has a huge wealth of information. Also, you can search old threads on this site by Googling the term you're looking for (e.g. "choosing pedals") and include "site:bikeforums.net" in your search terms.

Also, I would add a front brake and lever to your shopping list. And a helmet. ;-)

So let's see:

Frame/fork/etc. $120
Rear wheel: $70
Cog: $15 (if not included with the wheel)
Lockring: $10
Seatpost: $20
Saddle: $25
Chain: $10
Bars: $20
Pedals: $30
Grips: $5

Total: $325

Stuff adds up quick, eh? Those are prices I estimated for cheap basic components. Expect to pay more if you want "nice" stuff. Do you have tires? Inner tubes? That's another $40-$50 at least. You should really run a front brake too. Oh hey, the Windsor comes with two brakes. My advice: your friends aren't trying to "help" you, they're trying to get rid of what they don't want.

That was my thought too when I saw what the OP was being offered for $120. I rmeember seeing a complete fixie in a Performance retail shop a little while ago for $250.

I was in Walmart yesterday and they had a fixie called the Fixie for $99. If you can ride a 19 inch frame. Roger

pandamic: bikes direct seems to have the best deals on decent quality fixed gears and single speeds.

+1 on Kilo TT or similar. I would suggest asking one of your more knowledgeable friends to look through all of the Bikesdirect options to find a bike suitable for you needs and budget. These bikes do require some basic assembly and should be looked over by someone who knows what they are doing to ensure that they are safe and properly set up. With that said, don't think Bikesdirect is the only place to look, it is merely the most (in)famous and well documented and most buyers seem to be pleased with their purchases. Good luck!
