Campagnolo 11 speed and Bontrager wheels compatibility issue?
Hello all:
I was wondering if anyone has tried using Campagnolo 11 speed successfully with Bontrager wheels?
I currently have an older set of Bontrager wheels that came with DT Swiss 240 rear hub. I switched out the freehub body to Campagnolo, but the cassette rubs the spokes. Adding a spacer would make it rub the frame.
Any solutions for this?
Thanks!

Maybe you can move a spacer from the left side of the axle to the drive side and re-dish the wheel?

I've run into that problem. The solution is simple in theory, a bit more difficult in practice: there's a tube-shaped spacer that slides onto the axle before the freehub body. You need to remove the freehub body (just pull hard on the cassette) and add a very thin spacer that effectively makes that tube just a hair longer, just enough to get the cassette to stop hitting the spokes.
Finding such a spacer will be the tricky part. When I'm at work tomorrow, I'll try to remember to rummage for one that'll do the trick; if I do, I'll let you know and mail it to you.
One might think "hey, I'll just add a spacer between the cassette itself and the cassette body" but this results in the small cog clinging by a hair to the cassette body, not a workable solution if you plan to apply meaningful amounts of power.

Try contacting DT Swiss directly by email. Give them the model numers and serial numbers of the hub and freehub. Describe the problem as you have here. I have found them to be responsive and helpfull.

Thanks
Wow, thanks for all of the help guys!
mech, I came across a different thread that discussed that solution yesterday and I know exactly the tube you are referring to. I totally appreciate all of your efforts in finding the spacer!
Al, I sent an e-mail DT Swiss too just in case and we'll see what they say.
Thanks again all!

Ok, I made you a spacer from a pedal washer, the kind that goes between a crankarm and a pedal axle. The outside diameter was big enough it might've interfered with the seal on the cartridge bearing, so I spun it down to a smaller diameter using a bench grinder. PM me your mailing address and I'll send it out in tomorrow's mail

Sadly, I need 50 posts before I can actually PM. Ugh. I would assume I can respond to PMs though?
Thanks so much for all of your help!

Hey Bikewise,
I changed the freehub body to the Campagnolo version with it's accompanying axle cap that came with it as a kit. Is there a different version?

Hmmmm. I wonder where my post went? I see that kit on my Trek dealer site and it looks like it should come with the body, the right side cap and the internal spacer. Part Number 211579.

That's weird, I saw your post too but not sure where it went now. The kit I bought from a private party just came with two pieces - the freehub body and the axle cap itself. I didn't notice an internal spacer (unless it's already integrated). Any big differences between the axle caps? I have the old cap that accompanied the Shimano free hub and they look just about identical.

Regarding the axle caps, if memory serves me correctly, the outer diameter's different due to the different lockring sizes used by Shimano & Campy freehub bodies.
