Avid Juicy brake cup and cones, inferior material?

Having tightened the bolts on the caliper mounts quite a few times in the last two years, i have just noticed one of the cup/cone washers has a crack clear through it. Upon closer inspection it looks to me as if they are made of die-cast metal! Also, when i dismantled a SRAM X-7 trigger shifter, to find that the ratchet hook had broken away from the ratchet plate, the ratchet plate also appears to be made from die-cast metal. Is this the case? that they use this cheap weak metal? Is it standard practice throughout the whole SRAM/Avid range to use this crap? Or am i wrong? And it's really a strong alloy?

just get some more of them, its the same parts convex/concave spacers ,
as V brake shoes use.
[bike shops will have bins of them left from brake pad replacements]

perhaps you could hire a machine shop to make something else to meet your standards.

perhaps a top of the line brake system will be more satisfactory CNC billet

but FWIW Magura is primarily a high Pressure Injection metal Molding Company.

Thanks fietsbob, I'v seen online that they sell a cup cone and bolt set for 5. Is there a cheaper way to get them? I only want the cup/cone, not the whole shabang!

Lol at 'made by a machinist to meet my standards'. And I'm not looking at spending that kind of money! I guess i just expected the original ones to be made of something a bit stronger than die-cast metal. I'll check my LBS, thanks 'fietsbob'.
