hi, I have a caad 10, I removed the carbon 30mm conical spacer (bearing cap) and put instead a 10mm carbon cap... but I need a kind of shim under the cap for use between top cover and compression ring .. do you know where I can find that online?? do I really need that?? I guess so, better idea?

I think is something like that, but its Back order : http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...s.php?id=21855

    thanks....

I think what you are asking about is just a headset spacer. Guessing a couple of 10mm ones would make up the difference so you can preload the headset bearings. Jut go to the LBS. Shipping will kill you on something that inexpensive.

Take a picture. CACycling answered exactly how I would have given your description. Since that's apparently not the right answer I'm thoroughly lost as to what you are looking for. What you've linked too is highly unlikely to be the answer though.

I am not talking about spacer between stem and top cap cover headset.... but spacer shim under the cover cap to prevent the top cover from coming into contact with the top of the headtube.. understand or ??

to be sure when I say top cap cover, I mean ''cover of the headset'' not the top cover above the stem

in your original post you state you need a shim washer. Why do you think you need this? Does your 10mm top cap function differently than the taller one you replaced?

    ninhjanoir:

If you replaced part #6 for your headset with something, shouldn't it be totally compatible except shorter? So you'd just need more #5 spacers to fill in the gap? If you need more shim #7, then it may be the wrong part, or you bought something that didn't include the right parts. This is referring to your cane creek reference doc.
Yes, I can roll my own potsticker skins!

As long as the top cap doesn't touch the head tube you might not need it. Does it bind when you preload the headset?

OK, now I see. You need a shim that is part of the headset. A quick Google search shows it is out of stock at numerous sites. Assuming you've already assembled and determined that it is needed, I'd contact Cane Creek and see if they can help you locate one.

It's in QBP's inventory , any bike shop with a QBP account can order from them ,
Universal has a shipping center also in Minnesota,

It may be walking distance from the QBP warehouse .. so put it in your cart on backorder.
then it will be shipped from the midwest location.

Lots of other places get stuff from QBP then resell it, online. retail+ shipping.
