rebuilding some old Rapido Favorit pedals

I have a Rapido Favorite that I am slowly cleaning up and getting ready to be gifted to a freind. I have gotten a little anal about this pedal, though. It doesn't spin very freely.
I'd really like to take it appart and give it a cleaning, but for the life of me I can't figure out how.
I tried prying of what I thought might be an end cap but it didn't budge and I just scored the metal.
I could easily grab some generic platforms, but if there is a way to get inside these, I'd prefer to go that route. Time and effort aren't really an issue.
Anyone have any ideas?

If all else fail , try using a grease gun and put in grease or oil in from the threaded side of the axle , spin the axle as you do . From your photos yes the end cap (dust cap ) does look like it can come off .

Well, looks like its another stupid post from me. I gave the end cap a bit more effort and it popped right off. Only thing that irks me is that I owe thanks to someone who is more than likely a Bruins fan.
Thanks reptilezs.
