How to install shimano 105 5600 shifters

Can someone explain to me the steps I need to go through to install my shimano 105 5600 shifters? Also, when greasing the cable can I use vaseline or is there a specific type of grease I should use?

    Here's Shimano's guide in PDF form: http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/te...9830599858.pdf

Any grease you use should be very light, so it doesn't impede the movement of the cable. Don't go overboard with it

From my experience cables do not need lube. A very inexpensive part. If the cable starts to drag replace the cable and the housing. Total cost about $15.00 for parts.

I would use just a shot of WD-40 in the cable housing. That should be enough to keep water and moisture out.

the official cable housing from shimano come pre-injected with some strange translucent green grease, while campy used white lithium.
Food for thought: if you aren't dead by 2050, you and your entire family will be within a few years from starvation. Now that is a cruel gift to leave for your offspring. ;)
