Question on Suntour Barend Shifters

I was recently given a 7 speed Suntour bar end shifter set. The rear is indexed. My question concerns the front shifter. Is it for a double or triple ring crank?
The rear is switchable from indexed or friction.
I am thinking of putting drop bars on this bike, which has a triple front.

Left one is for the front mech, being Not indexed it doesn't care..

some sun tour cog spacing back in the day is not like shimano of now..

lots of guide pulley float, sideways, may help the klicks be 'close enough'.

or just use the friction mode.

Agree with fietsob, FD lever wont care as long your FD can handle the triple tho.

As for the rear one, use it like a real man used to use that back in the day!!!... friction mode!!!!

Since your question only asked if the front shifter would handle a triple, the answer is yes. Almost all friction shifters, whether downtube or barend can handle either a double or a triple crank.

Front is friction only, and should shift any double/triple crank.

Rear will probably end up being friction too unless you have a Suntour 7S cassette/freewheel or some other cluster with the correct spacing* AND the correct RD.

*Edit: you may be in luck, as Suntour 7S spacing looks to be the same as Shimano 7S. If you have a Suntour index-compatible RD you should be able to use a Shimano rear wheel/cassette.

I remember using these same shifters with a Shimano Deore XT 7 spd derailleur/freewheel/freehub setup on my mountain bike back in the early 90s. I didn't ever experienced any shifting issues. I believe I eventually moved them to a Shimano Deore XT 7 spd setup on my tandem as well. No problems what so ever.

Thanks. I'm running a SRAM X.7 or X.9 in the back, Shimano Exage in the front, rear just changed to a Sun Lite 14-34 freewheel. I discovered my downbar will not go into the neck (bends on bar are too tight) so decided to use SRAM X.3 trigger shifters. I am on a very tight budget, and these seem to be decent shifters. I loathe the big S by the way, trying to get rid of all Shimano on the bike. Front derailleur is all that is left to change now.

As for friction shift ... I used it for what? 30 years? You learn how much lever travel is needed and is almost like indexed that way.
