What do I have here? A DNP freehweel
Came across this freewheel on an older MTB owned by a friend. 7-speed, 13-28, and has DNP imprinted on the inside race and cogs. Just for the heck of it, I disassembled it and found some worn pawls. I had some Suntour pawls in my spare parts bin, and they fit. A spare Suntour race ring did not fit, but a Shimano race did fit.
Hmmm. Makes me wonder who made this cogset.
Anybody have any clues as to maker and year?

Not to sure of the year but the maker is Long Yih, a Taiwan component maker that sells under the name of DnP. They are a Shimano clone who have lost numerous patent infringement cases to Shimano, but continue to make their copies and sell in countries where the patent infringements have not been settled; like the US..They still sell their Epoch freewheels in 7,8, 9 and 10 speeds here https://www.universalcycles.com/search.php?q=dnp
