Headset Type

Hello,
I have a headset I would like to use on a different frame. The frame it's on now (a 2005 Stumpjumper Disc) has a fork with a 1-1/8" steerer tube. Based on the pictures below, is this headset just the standard threadless type? Should I be able to re-use this on any frame with the same diameter headtube (with the same fork)? The reason I ask is that the current frame tapers to a larger diameter at the top and bottom, and the new frame I want to use it with has a constant diameter. Thanks in advance, Tom |
Yes, it appears to be a standard pressed-in headset. You'll need to push out the cups from the frame, and of changing the fork too, transfer the crown race.

the "taper" made me take another look, and it seems that your headtube is indeed stepped on the outside. This shouldn't matter since only the inner dimension up to 3/4" deep at either end counts. If the bike is spec.d as taking a 1-1/8" headset, then it's a go.
