What Tools do I need to remove this Bottom Bracket
Just taking apart this old bike I picked up for stripping and painting. Its an old Giant Road-Bike a T-180 if that means anything (I don't think it's flash).
What tools/how do I remove this bottom bracket? I have a basic bike tool kit but not sure if I have the right tools for this job.
Thanks for your help.
Screwdriver, for the dust cap, a socket that fits the crank nut, then a crank puller tool. That BB, looks like a big crescent wrench and a hammer with a stout screwdriver should remove (or one of those fancy BB wrenches).
Screwdriver, for the dust cap , a 14mm thinwall socket for the crank nut or bolt ,the parktool Item # HCW-11 & Item # HCW-5 for the bottom bracket and the
Item # HCW-4 . can be found at parktool.com .
Pry out dust cap.
14MM socket for spindle nut/bolt.
Crank puller-Many types/brands available. Just get one that works on square taper cranks.
Hcw-11 for the lock ring.
Crescent wrench or Open End for adjustable cup "hex".
Something like an HCW-7 or 9 (thin) could be handy if you reuse the cup and want to adjust it with the crank on. You'd need to measure the hex to get the proper size wrench.
Can't give ACCURATE advice about the other side without seeing it.
