show me your rear cantilever brake mount solutions, please.

it's a little odd that the brand new frame I bought (pre-disposed for canti's) does not have a cable stop/mount...

I have cobled together a seat clamp bolt mounted cable hanger, but it is ugly, not central and makes quite a tight bend radius in the short section of outer cable from the top tube to the hanger.

please show me or point to me to a better solution than this...

Unfortunately many bikes with canti brake posts aren't really set up for cantis. They're designed for V-brakes which are far more common, and the designers therefore don't think about where to hang the cable from. Your approach may not look great, especially because the extended seat tube puts the clamp higher than you need for your cable hanger.

You might shop around and see if you can get a longer hanger that will work with your clamp. That will lower everything allowing for a lower more graceful cable route.

just about anyplace. Surly is a house brand of Quality Bike, and just about every dealer around does business with them.
