Velo Orange brakes quality question

I have been using older Shimano 105 brakes on my old 1982 Raleigh. I decided today to replace them with new Shimano 105 brakes but found that they do not have a long enough reach to line up with my rims. The bike came with 27x1.25 rims but I use 700C rims now. Velo Orange produces a long reach brake but I am curious about the quality. Has anyone ever bought from them and do you have an opinion as to the quality? They are slightly more expensive than 105s by about $20 a pair.

Thanks for your response.

Tektro brakes are pretty well-regarded Shimano clones. I'd use the long-reach as opposed to the extra-long reach ones.

FWIW, Harris Cyclery sells them, as well: https://sheldonbrown.com/harris/brake...ers.html#47-57

Velo-Orange brakes are made by Tektro, I think. Decent enough, but I'd probably exchange the pads for Kool-Stop brand just because.

Also, are these Shimano brakes long enough for your conversion?

If you can buy just the front calliper, that's the go, IMO. Any old brake can lock up the rear.
