1. That's not a rim, it's an entire wheel.
2. NFI.
3. Gee, it's ugly as sin. And apparently as heavy as a bridge.

It's what's called a mag wheel (at least in the UK). https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_m.html#mag

Is that plastic? I agree it looks like a BNX mag wheel, what size is it?

As for never seeing a Giant mag wheel before, obviously there has to be a first time for everything, and you can be assured that you'll be seeing lots of things for the first time over your lifetime.

I don't know if I've seen this exact wheel. Some time back, (in the 90's I think), cast wheels were the soup de jour. Everyone brought out some kind of cast or tri-spoke carbon wheel. All kinds of shapes and materials were used, 3 spoke, 4 spoke 5 spoke, etc. I don't know if I'd ride this wheel, but it's a keeper as a collectible, a nice example of one of those fads which come through the bike world every few years.

I remember those moulded trispokes and whatnot, but the only cast aluminium wheels I've ever seen were for motorised bikes; the extreme dish around the motor was impossible with tension spokes.
I'd say this thing is quite the rarity.

I've tried researching and cant find anything on it. The pics dont show how the spokes are offset left to right. Almost like done for wind resistance. I'll try to post some tomorrow.

The pics you've posted convey it well enough.
It seems a sensible enough design for what it is, but what it is doesn't seem like a great idea...
