I had a mishap with a curb last weekend and bent my front wheel beyond repair. It was a stock Bontrager Race, which came on a 2009 Trek 2.3. An acquaintance if mine at work has a set of takeoff wheels from his wife's Lexa (also the race model) that he has for sale very reasonably. My question is about the differences between the Bontrager Race wheels that come on the Lexa vs other Trek models. For instance, this set has different decals and a 24 spoke front, whereas the models that come on Trek's non-WSD bikes have 20. This set would be used until next season when I plan to buy a set of Vitesses from Boyd (funds don't allow it right now), and I would be taking the decals off so the yellow doesn't clash with my red bike. Would these be a suitable replacement until then or are there differences that would be noticeable compared to my original wheels? I thought about buying a new Race front only, but my existing (2009) wheels are paired spoke (new models are not) and it would look goofy.
I know everybody hates Bontrager wheels but the price is good for 0 mileage wheels and they would get me through to next spring. Thanks in advance for any replies.
