Cannondale T900 - update project: compatibility questions
I own a Cannondale T900, bought in 1999 but I think it is a 1998 (or earlier) model, color: dark blue, 23". It was rebuilt by the seller (Cannondale bicycle dealer) with a flat handle bar (Trekking) and Suntour break leavers and Shimano Shifters (3 * 8), in the hope to get it sold faster. I finally bought it "as-is" at a bargain price.
Unfortunately up to today, I just managed only one one-week-ride with this wonderful bike. So it is still in very good condition, a bit dusty, but thats it.
However, meanwhile I even changed the bar at my day-to-day bike to a race bar with Shimano Sora STI 3*8 and I would like to rebuild my Cannondale as well. After the long story, the short questions, which I didn't find an answer at the Shimano Tech Side and hope somebody here can help:
Is it possible to mount a cog set 13-25 (CS-6600) or 12-25 (SRAM PG1070) 10 speed on a Coda 700 Hub?
Is it possible to use Shimano Ultegra or 105 shifters (6703, 5703, 5603, I like the "clean" cockpit) with FD Deore LX, RD SRAM Centra and Coda Cantilevers? Or is there a shifter from SRAM you could recommend doing the job?
Thanks a lot!

bibabo, Welcome to the forum.
The rear cassette and RD won't be an issue. The FD will need replacing with one compatible with the STI lever. I use bar end shifters on my drop bar (race bar) touring bike. The front shifter is friction and works with any FD. Less expensive also.

That sounds promising, thank you Brad.
I like your Bike, looks good. I also like STIs and that you can break and change gears without loosing the bar, so I will stick on the idea to pimp it up with 5603 shifters, at least until I know the overall price the rebuild will approximately end up with.
Just out of curiosity: what is the point with the FD? On my everyday Bike FD Alivio works with Sora Shifter. Possibly I was just lucky :-)

bibabo, Most often a road group's shifter won't work with a mountain group's FD (Shimano). Every once in awhile it will work, perhaps because the FD cable is in the B position or just blind luck. Certainly worh a try before replacing the FD.

Integrated road shifters and MTB front derailleurs CAN work. It seems to be determined by the size of the chainrings. 48/38/28 can work, 44/32/22 will probably not work.

Honestly, I was afraid you wrote me the RD wouldn't cope with the ten speeds and / or the shifters wouldn't do the job with the cantilever brakes fitted. At least it is mentioned in a catalog the Shimano 105 ten speed (5703) were only compatible to Shimano race brakes. But, honestly, I couldn't understand why it should be like that. So I'm happy to read I can keep my RD and the cantilevers.
Concerning the FD, actually there are chain rings 44/32/22 mounted. Does this mean, the chain rings need replacement, or will the FD 5703 B for instance perform well, even if race rings are generally bigger? Compared to a replacement of the chain rings or in worst case together with the cranks the FD is quite cheap
