Dawes Galaxy Tour Headset problem
I have a 10 year old Dawes Galaxy Tour which I bought new. The threaded headset has always worked loose when I go on a trail. I have replaced the headset bearings but it still does not tighten up to my satisfaction. I have formed the opinion that the thread on the fork is slightly undersized. I have read that, in the past, slightly undersized nuts were made to deal with this problem. Has anyone still got one of these, or a special tap to make one?
I cannot use a Chris King gripnut headset, as the Dawes has cantilever brakes and a cable hanger. The Chris King grip nut does not allow the use of a cable hanger. I have tried Locktite without success.
