Shimano Rear Derailleur Cage Compatability (Shimano 600 and Dura-Ace 7402)

Hello everyone!

I'm currently in the midst of putting an 8-speed DA group together but it looks like my rear derailleur cage is bent. I also have an almost complete Shimano 600 7-speed group that has that fabulous looking "solid" pulley cage. The one without the cutouts, similar to the 1st generation Campagnolo C-Record rear derailleur. I love how it looks.

I'm curious if I could replace my DA pulley cage with the 600 series cage? I'd put the DA pulleys on the new cage of course.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but no harm in askin' right?

Thanks!

Dura-Ace's cage actually bolts into the "knuckle," as you can see from looking at the rear. The Ultegra has a different setup, a stud built into the pulley cage with an asymmetrical end that retains it when fully assembled and rotated into the intended position. So your best bet is to track down a healthy Dura-Ace RD to scavenge from.
