Gear/Brake Lever Casing

Ok so I managed to crack my Gear/Brake lever casing (the bit that displays the current gear im in) on my bike by dropping a wrench of the workbench on to my handlebars and im wondering if its possible to purchase a new casing part or will I have to purchase new Gear levers. I currently have Shimano EZ fire 8 Speed shifter on. Ill post a pic if I get the chance but im at work atm

Depending on the age, and part, it may be a replaceable item, you need to know the model number of the shifter (found on the underside), and then look at the Tech Doc for the parts breakdown https://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/index.jsp

Being realistic, if it is an EZ fire shifter, it will probably be cheaper to replace the whole unit, rather than get a spare.

As a bonus you'll get new cables and housings which will also improve your shifting.
