Disc Brake Road Wheels

Hey dudes, so I'm thinking about making a major change in bike...going from a traditional road bike (2011 Trek Madone 4.5) and possibly going to one the recently released Foundry Riveter. I got a chance to ride the Riveter the other day as a demo and LOVED it. They're not available until February but I figure I should start checking stuff out now. The main reason for this post is the front end of the Riveter, it's got disc brakes and has a 15mm thru axle fork, I know, awesome. Anyway, If I bought the frameset (likely) I would need a set of road wheels, disc, 15mm axle front. I'm a little worried about buying MTB wheels and throwing 23/25mm tires on them so I'm considering building up a pair from scratch. I would likely use shimano or king hubs but I'm looking for a good rim to pair them with.

SO, can anyone suggest a good 32h road rim, non-braking, preferably black...or a good factory-made road disc wheelset (also black)?

That is the only useless thing listed in your criteria. It is of zero importance. You can add ~30g (just a guess, but I know it's an insignificant amount of weight) to your already (relatively) heavy disc brake wheelset without noticing it. I say this because I suspect it to be hard to find non rim-braking road rims, so you may have to end up settling for rims intended for rim brakes.

Velocity rims are available in an un-machined, all-black finish. The Aerohead is a good model choice.

If you can accept a machined but not needed brake track, the Mavic CXP-33 will certainly meet your strength and durability requirements.

No brake track does mean you could have something like Velocity's Halo coating, which is a pretty nice feature.

Also, I don't know that anyone yet does so, but carbon rims that don't have to absorb the heat shed by braking can be quite a bit lighter.

Good idea if cost isn't a factor. Carbon rims will indeed be black and many of them have reasonably ineffective brake tracks, which will be a non-issue with disc brakes.

I built a couple of disc wheels on black Mavic Open Pro 32h rims and after 2000+ miles of commuting on them, they are holding up nicely. These rims have the brake track which is of no importance to me.

Late last year I built a monstercross bike. The frame has 135mm rear spacing so I am using a set of 29er MTB wheels. The rims are very wide yet I have run a 700x25 tire with no issues. The tires ride very well with the wide rim.

I found the Stan's NoTubes ZTR Alpha 340 rims which seem really light and solid. They even offer a pre-built wheelset with the 340 rims and disc hubs, convertible to thru-axle, I'll probably end up going with those
