Switching Cranks
Hi, I have a Cannondale supersix with a FSA gossamer crank and I just picked up a FSA K-force crank Take off of a new bike but is not coming with bearings or shims etc.
My ? is seeing they are both FSA shouldn't the spline length be the same ?? in which case I could use all the shims and wave washer just as they are in the gossamer crank (just put it back together like the gossamer was installed) ?? What's the chances of needing more shims ?/??? and if so where is a good source ?? do LBS stock them??

The K-Force and SLK Light BB-8681 and BB-8200 (ceramic) bottom brackets are narrower than the SLK BB-8000 bottom bracket (I tried before I knew that - the Light cranks on the 8000 bind and if you tried to ride them like that you'd probably wreck the splines since the left arm isn't seated all the way) and both are different from the Goassamer BB-6000 bottom bracket (which is reportedly wider - it takes more meat in the carbon arms to match the alloy strength, especially after you make it hollow).

The splines are the same although the bottom bracket widths vary and you need the one which matches your cranks.

You need a new bottom bracket. Universal Cycles has low prices and shipping charges.

I doubt you will need additional shims, but I called FSA about getting a few extras and they just threw a half dozen in an envelope and sent them to me free of charge with a nice note thanking me for using their product.

BB30 is a different thing than GXP, although some FSA cranks take 6mm bearings (K-Force/SLK-Light) and others 7mm. 7mm bearings with a 6mm crank will be 2mm too wide.
