Sram rear mechs made with slanted cages?

Hi guys,

I've recently gotten a sram rival rear mech as a replacement for my sram apex med-cage installed on my bike. Nothing wrong with the apex, just picked up the rival cheap.

However, upon closer inspection i realized the screw mount platform on the rival mech is not parallel to the pulley cage. (i've taken a picture to show what i mean..its worst from the rear view) Is this normal? The rear mech is pretty much brand new, no crashes no nothing.

The currently apex has the same design or issue, whichever it is. On the bike, its cage slightly slanted outwards, but the bike has had absolutely no crashes, falls or any force placed onto the rear mech, and the rear dee hanger looks very straight to me.

So is this normal and my rear dee hanger twisted somehow, or am i unlucky enough to get two new sram rear mechs which are twisted?

The "screw mount platform" is just the "B" screw that adjusts chain tension and distance between the guide pulley and the cogs. It has nothing do with the alignment of the derailleur. Your axis through the derailleur pulleys should be parallel to the surface that meets the derailleur hanger.

it is normal for sram atleast. countless times i have aligned a hanger only to slap on a a sram rd and that sucker is crooked. sent quite a few back to sram too. and no they dont shift worth anything with the hanger aligned and the pullys crooked. sram sucks and sram fd shifting is terrible. atleast their warranty is good right, because they need it. /rant off

its actually a product flaw and not designed to be like this? and this is for two pf their derailleurs, sram cant suck so badly can it?

anyone else wuth similar situations but are still able to mount the derailleur and get it parallel to the casette?

all of mine look like that I have no issues, I doubt this is a flaw. I will check with my SRAM guy though, honestly I've noticed it but it never went beyond that. but it is curious-- this goes for APEX, RIVAL, FORCE and RED I have all 4

My Stratus came with a Sram 3, and I replaced it with a Sram 7 that got damaged. I replace it with a Sram 7 that I have now. They are the most flawless shifting RDs that I have ever used.
