Please help with this ungoogable problem... Installing chain tensioner

I'm so confused. I bought this chain tensioner to convert my mountain bike to single speed.
It does not fit on the rear braze on.

I tried it out on 2 other frames and they work.
I tried 3 diferent random rear deralieurs to see if they would fit onto the frame. Everything fits except for this chain tensioner.

Itd simple enough.... Brand new chain tensioner.
Mountain bike is practically brand new. Bought years ago but never saw the road. The screw in threads look good. Nothing rusted out or worn.

I compared the mounting screw to other rear deralieurs and it looks exactly the same size.
I'm so stumped. This problem is causing so much tension!

Sometimes they're tricky to get threaded right, maybe you just have it off angle everytime you try it in that frame.

Does the frame have removable derailer hanger by any chance? Maybe it'll be easier to thread hanger to the tensioner bold.

I will fiddle with more angles to get it in.
it doesnt have one of those hangers.

I also have a theory. It is an inexpensive department store bike. Most likely of inferior quality.
i'm thinking maybe that one off factory in the middle of china decided to make that hole 1mm bigger/smaller to make my life harder. Oy

Edit: i spent some time doing a wiggle/screw technique. After vigerous wiggling and screwing its in! Thanks
