Help replacing cartridge bearings on Xero Lite (Formula?) rear hub

I've overhauled lots of cup-and-cone hubs, but now it is time to mainain/replace the gritty stiff feeling cartridge bearings on this hub (front still feels great.) I've removed the "cones" or locknuts or whatever, but the axle does not come free. The freehub body moves a bit but I cannot pull it all the way off. I don't want to wrench it off and have springs and pawls go flying on me... Does anyone know how to replace the bearings on these hubs? Google didn't help much.

In my experience, if you've removed the cones and lock nuts and the axle doesn't come out, you have to tap out the bearings by tapping the axle with a hammer.

Sure enough! Thanks a lot. Now I just need to find the correct replacements.

I may become a believer in cartridge bearings after all.

I think cartridge bearing hubs are the way to go! One of my least favorite things to do is cleaning gunky hubs only to find that they are slightly pitted.

Ok, got the old bearings out and bought replacements. Now how to I install the darn things without ruining them??? Can't just tap them in with the axle because they need to be seated on both sides of the axle and simultaneously seated in the hub shell. If I tap one side the other will fall out.

Think I may have ruined them already... Do I need a bearing press or something?

Unless there is an easy way to do this, I think I will stick with cup and cone bearings. Way easier to deal with even if the maintenance is more frequent.

I've been looking everywhere for what model of bearings these hubs use. If you don't mind, where did you order replacements from and what model number are the bearings? Thanks!

Uncle Crusty in Santa Rosa, CA has that exact same hub use, and unlaced. I grabbed for measurement purposes and returned it. Contact him to ask if he still has it, maybe you can buy it off of him to have a spare freehub.

Don't know if it's worth trying to salvage the bearings though...

Just providing the above info in case you are interested...

Thanks for the info mrrabbit, but I decided to get rid of the wheels. I found a bike with some nice Ksyrium Elites, put the Xero wheelset on the bike and flipped it for $100 more than I paid. Problem solved

I bought these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-6901-2RS-6...item5ae93a73ef

The bearings I bought (for the great price of $5 shipped) seemed fine, but I could not for the life of me get the rear hub to spin smoothly. I took it to a bike shop and they couldn't do anything. So I got rid of the wheelset. I just wasn't very happy with the rear hub design.
