Carbon Paste Residue Removal

what can I use to remove the carbon paste residue from my seatpost? I know there's something you're supposed to use to remove it, but I've forgotten what it is.

Try kerosene, mineral spirits or WD-40. Use sparingly and they should do the job.

I just use some rubbing alcohol on a rag
