Who are some manufacturers that make their bikes in Usa? I'm asking about all their models not just high ends. From what I hear a lot of the high ends are still made in Usa. Is there any companies that make all their models in Usa.

I may have missed one but chances are the only people who make ALL their bikes in the US are small custom builders. I am pretty sure every company that offers bikes in the $400 range have them made overseas because chances are it would not be possible to have a bike made completely in the US at those costs.

No one makes kiddie bikes in the US. So, if you consider a bike company that manufacturers a full range of bikes, including kids bikes, then the answer is no. If you want a bike frame made in the US, that's possible but it will be difficult to specify all the components from the US too.

Low price and M,USA.. Maybe some clothing.. But the manufacturing investment went largely to
Japan, then Taiwan, and now the TW companies have subs on the mainland.

there were Boutique CNC made components in the ?80's? were not cheap
and replaceable parts when no more are made, loose their replace ability.

Tooling to the Boxlng for shipping.. Heat treating all that , chased Lower Wages..

Maritime containers return largely with cardboard to be turned into new boxes.

Hiya, Mike. As far as frames go, all Bike Friday frames are still built in the US (Eugene, OR), as are a number of smaller companies (Co-motion, Bilenky, and Rodriguez come to mind), and a whole slew of "micro" builders (from one to a handful of people each). I could be wrong, but I doubt any of the major manufacturers still fabricate all their own frames in this country. If you`re looking for an inexpensive US-built frame, you`ll have way more choices looking at used bikes- even if you only go back ten years or so. Again, talking frames.

If you mean all the components that make that frame useful, that`s even tougher. I don`t think any hubs, shifters, deraillers, brake levers or calipers, cranksets, saddles, etc are currently built in the US, and very few ever were. Probably no tubes or tires either. You might find a few domestic manufactured seatposts or stems, and Sun rims might still be.

With the possible exception of Victory, there are no bicycles that meet the US Federal Trade Commission's legal definition of "Made in USA". There haven't been for decades. Some bicycles are deceptively labeled "Made in USA" (even by major manufacturers), contrary to US law. The National Bicycle Dealers' Association estimates over 99% of all bicycles sold new retail in the USA are imported from Taiwan or China.

Quite why a bike's country of origin matters is something that escapes me, unless you want to avoid paying import tax.

The last time one company produced all the parts for its bikes in any one country was probably Raleigh's factory in the UK, and that was a long time ago. Apparently Schwinn once had something similar in the US, but nowadays, as others have said, you'll be buying foreign-made parts to build up your bike wherever the frame was built.

Even local custom makers who build all of their frames in the US have to use "foreign" made tubing. Columbus, Deda, Tange, etc. are all made in Europe or Asia.

There is no low end Lynskey..

FRames lend them selves to smaller shops, so can be locally made, of imported or 3rd party, custom manufactured, materials..

Components to attach to the frame are the opposite, large factorys,
capital intensive use of CNC machine tools ..
there the shops are in motion, boxed up and shipped
seeking lower cost machine operators and Laborers.

The kind of people that are interested in a lower-end bike are not going to pay extra for one made in the US.

Short answer, none. Long answer, a few (cruisers and mtbs) - but using mostly foreign sourced hubs, bottom brackets, bars, stems, cranks, rims, tires, etc. And their low-end models ain't exactly cheap.

These guys are the closest manufacturer I can think of that will have the highest percentage of domestic parts. They make mostly single speed industrial cycles that use a lot of US-made Wald components.

Isn't "True Temper" still made in the USA?

You're better off with a custom bike, if you want made in USA. Otherwise there is just a few companies that make made in usa parts. Like White industries, Chris King (I think), Andrew King (bottle cages), and Origin8 distributes a chainring that is made in USA (not sure who actually makes them).
